Creating a Workplace of Inclusion and Belonging Course

Did you know that a 2022 McKinsey report found that organizations with strong IDEA practices see a 35% improvement in employee satisfaction and a 20% reduction in turnover rates (McKinsey, 2022).

The “Creating a Workplace of Inclusion and Belonging” course is designed for EDI committees, HR professionals, ERG members, and anyone who is passionate about this space. This course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to cultivate a culture of inclusivity and belonging within their organization.

Through four interactive modules, this instructor-led course delves into key concepts such as understanding unconscious biases, promoting diversity, and implementing effective inclusion strategies.

In this course, led by industry-experts, you will explore:

Module 1

In the first module, we explore the foundation of IDEB (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Belonging). We’ll discuss why IDEB is crucial, how changes in our environments have highlighted these challenges, and conclude with a commitment to action based on our learning.

Module 2

Building on Module 1, we delve into unconscious bias—what it is, how it influences decision-making, and how to challenge our thinking. Participants will start recognizing these biases in everyday interactions, learn strategies to address them, and commit to ongoing learning. We then transition to cultural intelligence—what it is, its importance, and how to develop it, ending with a commitment to action.

Module 3

The third module focuses on the traits of inclusive teams. We’ll explore what makes a team inclusive and effective, with an emphasis on psychological safety. We’ll close with a commitment to fostering these traits within your team.

Module 4

In the final module, we examine our privilege and its impact. We’ll discuss how to move from allyship to advocacy, taking actionable steps to support IDEB in a meaningful way. We’ll wrap up with a commitment to advance from allyship to advocacy.

This course offers participants continuous support through:

  • A 45-minute POD accountability discussion to practice and share insights.
  • Pre- and post-module activities to enhance learning.
  • A 3-month follow-up check-in after the final module to check in on progress, discuss hurdles, and recommit to action plans.

Upon completion, participants will also receive a digital badge to display on LinkedIn and social media, which not only continues to foster a commitment to continued learning, but also confirms your organization’s commitment to IDEB more broadly.

The course will be held virtually every second Wednesday from September to December 2024. If you miss a session, a recording will be available for you to catch up. This format offers bite-sized learning and ample time to reflect between modules
